Teiji Kobayashi joined Walbro Japan at the Kakuda Plant in 1986. Throughout his career with Walbro, Mr. Kobayashi has held a variety of manufacturing engineering and operations positions and has gained a deep understanding of Walbro’s manufacturing, engineering and operations processes. In 1996 Mr. Kobayashi led the launch of the Tianjin Plant in China. While in China he oversaw its ISO9001 certification and the construction of the production facilities and processes, including the development of the organizational, systematic structures. In 2000 Mr. Kobayashi returned to Japan and was appointed General Plant Manager of the Miyagi Marumori Plant. During his tenure there, Mr. Kobayashi led the plant’s certification in ISO9001. Mr. Kobayashi returned to the Kakuda Plant in 2001 as Deputy Chief of the Production Engineering Department where he introduced and oversaw the installation of new production equipment—automatic inspection machines, inspection systems, and ultrasonic cleaning systems. In 2004, he returned to the Tianjin Plant in China, and as the General Plant Manager he helped get the plant ISO14001 certified while successfully shifting the plant’s business model from a 2-wheeled vehicle operation to a Lawn & Garden business. Mr. Kobayashi returned to the Kakuda Plant in 2011, and as General Plant Manager he improved its overall productivity and collaborated with the Global Quality Team to integrate manufacturing processes at all plants globally. On August 1, 2020, Mr. Kobayashi was appointed President of Walbro Japan. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Machinery Engineering from the Musashi Institute of Technology.
